Thailand is planning a spectacular theme park: Disney in the EEC?!
An exciting project is underway in Thailand: a national sports complex and theme park that has the potential to attract tourists and investors from around the world. How Nation of Thailand reported, the planned area extends over a large area, some of which is under the Agricultural Land Reform Office. This could lead to the expropriation of around 1,600 hectares in order to create the new theme park. Minister Phiphat highlights that a casino near the planned theme park is out of the question, reflecting the concept of a family-friendly experience.
The overall project includes more than just the theme park: a modern sports center for international events, shopping centers and hotels are also planned. Phiphat believes Thailand is well-equipped to invest in a Disneyland with excellent services and a pleasant climate. Thanks to its geographical location in the heart of ASEAN, not far from the ocean, the country is also ideal for travelers.
A new chapter for the EEC
A key part of this development is taking place in the EEC Capital City, also known as EECiti. Chula Sukmanop, Secretary General of the Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Committee, provides an update on the plan for the theme park in this new smart urban development in Huay Yai, Bang Lamung, Chonburi. The EECiti is spacious and will extend over 2,339 hectares, with initial plans for various sports and leisure facilities already in place. Interestingly, these should do without a casino.
The initial designs call for approximately 240 hectares to be used for the sports and entertainment center. These cluster projects in the region are designed to spur the growth of related service industries. As those responsible emphasize, the EEC will also expand its transport infrastructure to make accessibility easier.
Transport connections and future prospects
The connection to the high-speed rail system plays a central role here: EECiti is only 20 kilometers away from the corresponding train station in Pattaya. A monorail system is also planned to connect the two points. In order to cope with the high number of visitors that the theme park and sports center could generate, a feeder transport system from Pattaya Station is essential. The expectations are high: the EEC expects high demand, which will create new opportunities for work and business.
Thai investors have already shown interest in co-investing in Disneyland in Thailand, increasing the likelihood of this venture becoming a reality. It will be exciting to see how the plans develop and what impact they will have on the region and the entire nation.
