Bangkok in a gaming frenzy: The spectacular Gamescom Asia 2025!

There's a lot going on in Bangkok at the moment! From October 16 to 19, 2025, the first Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show took place at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), and it was no small event. A whopping 206,159 visitors from 95 countries made the pilgrimage to this mega event, which was not only the largest gaming festival in Southeast Asia, but also offered an exciting mix of business and entertainment. Hosted in one of the region's most modern conference centers, the 78,500 square meter QSNCC was the perfect location for this large gathering. There was everything from esports tournaments and indie game presentations to cosplay events and investor pitch competitions.

The event was inspired by the world's largest gaming trade fair, the German “gamescom”. The goal is clear: Thailand should be established as the leading gaming hub in Southeast Asia. Over 80 indie games had their premieres, and leading publishers such as CAPCOM, Hoyoverse and Bandai Namco Entertainment were also there. Exclusive product launches such as the Nintendo Switch 2 as well as technologies from AMD and Intel, which are very popular with technology enthusiasts, were completely new.

Diverse offers for the gaming community

At the QSNCC, visitors not only experienced a massive entertainment zone with spectacular esports tournaments and exciting cosplay competitions, but also a business zone where 5,590 trade visitors from 81 countries were able to talk shop. In this environment, which presented 294 exhibitors and country pavilions, there was plenty of space for valuable contacts and networking. The center's plenary halls were used for opening speeches and panel discussions. The keynote speech by Glen Schofield, the creator of Dead Space, was particularly impressive, inspiring those present and covering many important topics in the industry.

The importance of the event was also underlined by QSNCC CEO Surapol Utintu, who highlighted the center's role as a global events hub. The increasing number of Thai titles on global platforms such as Steam clearly shows that Thailand is no longer just a spectator on the international gaming industry stage. According to forecasts, the market could grow to a staggering $3.1 billion by 2033.

A step into the future

The Thai government actively supports this movement, with initiatives such as the Thailand International Game Showcase (TGIS2025) and the Thailand Game Festival (TGF 2025) helping to promote the industry. Emphasis is placed on integrating Thai identity and narratives into the games. At the same time, cooperation with international partners will be further strengthened, as was the case most recently at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne.

The next round of Gamescom Asia will take place again in Bangkok from October 29th to November 1st, 2026. It remains exciting to see how the international gaming scene will continue to develop and how Thailand, as an up-and-coming center, can play a key role. This is an exciting time for all gaming fans!

The reports about this impressive event can be found everywhere, for example in meetings-conventions-asia, who provided information about the event, as well as on qsncc and thailandnow, which shed light on the context of the rapidly growing industry in Thailand.
