Thailand celebrates culinary triumph: Sühring with three Michelin stars!
On November 28, 2025, Thailand was all about culinary delights, because... Guide Michelin Thailand 2026 was published. In the new edition, a total of 468 restaurants were evaluated, with the number of award-winning restaurants and their quality being impressively documented. The new awards in particular show how lively and diverse Thai gastronomy is.
A real highlight this year: the two restaurants Sorn and Sühring can look forward to the coveted third Michelin star. Sorn is the first restaurant in Thailand to achieve this highest ranking. Sühring, known for its modern German tasting menu, has worked its way up from a two-star restaurant in 2019 to the current award. But that's not all: there are a total of eight restaurants with two stars, including the French restaurant Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie and the modern Indian restaurant INDDEE. In addition, 33 restaurants have received a Michelin star, with seven of them being new additions to the guide, such as Bo.lan and Cannubi by Umberto Bombana. This diversity speaks for the innovative potential of Thai cuisine and the constant development of the restaurant landscape.
Awards and trends
Another exciting aspect is thatMichelin Special Awards, which were awarded to outstanding personalities in the catering industry. Suwijak Kunghae from Restaurant Royd received the Young Chef Award, while Restaurant Margo received the Opening of the Year Award. The Service Award went to Arsen Brahaj from Restaurant Aulis and the Mentor Chef Award went to David Thompson from Restaurant Aksorn.
A sustainable trend is also the increase in alcohol-free alternatives and plant-based dishes. Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, highlights how important collaboration between chefs and producers has become.
