True Corporation is intensively preparing for Storm KALMAEGI!

Extensive preparations are underway in Chiang Mai and the surrounding regions in advance of the approaching storm “KALMAEGI”. True Corporation, in collaboration with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), has put in place an emergency plan to protect residents from the impending dangers such as heavy rains, sudden floods and possible landslides. These threats are expected in the period from November 7th to 9th, 2025, which further underlines the urgency of preventive measures. Chiang Mai News reports that True has already deployed mobile base stations in risky areas.

As reported by True Blog, this is happening in close coordination with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). During the storm, warning messages will be sent to areas at risk through Cell Broadcast Service (CBS) and SMS so that the population is informed in good time. These measures also include location-based verification of communication systems.

Preparations in the risk province

A total of 66 provinces in Thailand have been identified as at risk by the DDPM. For the northern region, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun and Lampang, among others, are within striking distance of the expected storms. Measures have also been taken to address the potential disasters in other regions of the country, from the Northeast region to the Central and Southern regions.

  • Nordregion: 17 Provinzen, einschließlich Chiang Mai
  • Nordostregion: 20 Provinzen, darunter Udon Thani, Khon Kaen
  • Zentral- und Ostregion: 23 Provinzen, wie Chonburi und Rayong
  • Südregion: 5 Provinzen, darunter Phuket und Krabi

Preparation measures include the provision of emergency generators, fuel, spare batteries and 4WD vehicles, as well as the possibility of using flat-bottomed boats in flooded areas.

How to protect yourself

The risks in Thailand are not new. The dangers of natural disasters such as floods and tropical storms have been pointed out several times in the past. According to Perspektive Ausland, Thailand is particularly vulnerable to flooding during the monsoon season, with some regions, such as the northeast and Chiang Mai, experiencing severe flooding almost annually.

It is recommended to stay informed and take precautions in case of severe weather. This includes having emergency contacts ready, securing important documents, and choosing stable housing. It is also advisable to stock up on enough food and water to be independent for several days.

However, despite all these measures, the population remains optimistic that the cooperative efforts between True Corporation and the relevant authorities will minimize the impact of the storm. Constant network monitoring and emergency protocols in place ensure mobile and internet services do not come to a standstill during the crisis so everyone can stay connected.
