Waterfall and fog: Kew Mae Pan Trail opens its doors again!

This morning, heavy rains and dense fog surprised visitors to Doi Inthanon as the popular Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail reopened for ecological recreation after five months of closure. Head of the 16th Protected Area Management Office, Kritsiyam Kongsatri, presided over the ceremonial event. Despite the wet conditions, the anticipation and enthusiasm among nature lovers remains unbroken.

At 3.2 kilometers, the Kew Mae Pan Trail is not only a challenge that can be completed in two to three hours, but is also at an impressive altitude of 2,157 meters. Temperatures climbed to 14°C today, which is pleasant for hikers. Last tourism season, an impressive 123,776 visitors used the trail - 80,950 Thais and 42,826 international guests. This shows that Doi Inthanon is part of the fascinating Doi Inthanon National Parks, is a popular destination for nature lovers.

Volunteer support and growth

For the 2025-26 season, 328 local guides have been appointed to provide support and safety to visitors - including 111 youth guides who have been specially trained. Not only is this an excellent opportunity for the community, but it also ensures that visitors are always well-informed and able to fully enjoy the beauty of nature.

Doi Inthanon National Park, about 70 km southwest of Chiang Mai, offers an abundance of breathtaking scenery, impressive waterfalls and excellent bird watching opportunities. It covers an area of ​​482 km² and ranges from altitudes between 800 and 2,565 meters. The highest point, Doi Inthanon, is an attraction that attracts many travelers and is the centerpiece of the park. Tips for visitors

Although the Kew Mae Pan Trail is closed from June to October, hikers should prepare well for the season. Temperatures can drop extremely, especially at night, making warm clothing necessary. The main access to the national park is via a checkpoint at km 8 of Highway 1009. Visitors should note that their own vehicle or motorcycle is required to move within the park.

Doi Inthanon is known not only for its impressive natural landscapes, but also for its projects promoting sustainable development. The Royal Project Inthanon supports the cultivation of flowers and vegetables in the region and has pushed back opium cultivation since its founding in 1979.
