Scandal at Miss Universe: Participants show solidarity with Bosch!

The countdown to the Miss Universe competition, which is scheduled to take place in Thailand on November 21, 2025, is in full swing - but not without controversy. There was a real scandal at a recent preparation event. Thai organizer Nawat Itsaragrisil got into a heated argument with Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch. Tensions reached a peak when Nawat publicly rebuked Bosch, accusing her of failing to fulfill her obligations to promote the event. In the midst of the argument, security guards were called in after Bosch loudly protested and wanted to explain her point of view. Numerous participants expressed their solidarity with the Mexican representative and left the room in protest. A video of the incident was streamed live and quickly spread online. The emerging echo didn't take long to arrive. Miss Universe Mexico called the incident “unacceptable,” while Nawat later apologized for his comments, acknowledging the possibility of misunderstandings.

It appears that the situation was not just a one-off incident. Already on November 3rd there was a violent argument between Fátima and Nawat. The latter had called Fátima “stupid” during a previous event, which further stirred things up. In this context, Fátima admitted that she had misunderstood the requirements for the doctorate. “I represent my country and am not responsible for the problems of the organization,” she emphasized in an interview. The solidarity of the participants was obvious, as even the current Miss Universe, Victoria Kjær, decided to leave the room. This makes it clear: This is not just about a beauty contest, but also about female strength and the ability to stand up for yourself.

Reactions and consequences

The events were not without consequences. Nawat faced criticism from Raúl Rocha Cantú, the president of Miss Universe, who strongly condemned his behavior and restricted Nawat's participation in future Miss Universe events. Fátima herself expressed respect for Thailand, but criticized Nawat as disrespectful. The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) is already planning a delegation that wants to travel to Thailand to clarify the situation there. Despite the charged atmosphere, the main event is scheduled to take place on November 21st.

Where will the path lead for the participants? A further shadow was cast over the competition when Miss Universe Germany, Diana Fast, announced that she did not want to travel to Thailand for personal reasons. The drama surrounding the Miss Universe pageant remains in the spotlight, and it remains to be seen how everything will play out. The competition, hosted by Miss Universe, is highly anticipated by many as the organization continues to work to resolve the eventful events.

In the last few days it has become clear that the Miss Universe elections are more than just a beauty pageant. They are a reflection of the challenges women face today and a place where courage, respect and solidarity must be emphasized. As preparations intensify, one question arises: How will the event ultimately go down in the annals of Miss Universe history - as a pageant of beauty or as a turning point in respect and equality?
