BioMart Hua Hin 2025: Sustainable tourism celebrates its premiere!
On October 4, 2025, a very special event was launched in Hua Hin: the “BioMart Hua Hin 2025” project. At the popular Market Village, this innovative venture was officially opened with a ceremony in which the Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, Mr. Sitthichai Sawatsan, played the central role. The guests also included Dr. Thanit Changthaworn from the Bureau of Environmental and Natural Resource Policy and Planning (BEDO) and Nif Collier-Smith from UNDP Thailand and numerous local government representatives and entrepreneurs. The event took place for five days and aimed to highlight organic products and sustainable tourism, supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Daily News reports.
The opening was an impressive start and highlighted the importance of biodiversity in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. This region is rich in coastal areas and national parks, including Kui Buri National Park, known for its wildlife, and Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, which offers a unique interplay of terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Governor Sawatsan highlighted the importance of economic growth and environmental protection going hand in hand. “The region can serve as a model that sustainable tourism and nature conservation are compatible,” he explained. Huahin Sarn adds.
Diversity and sustainability in focus
As part of BioMart, visitors were treated to a market with over 40 vendors offering local foods, crafts and health products. Workshops, exhibitions and sales campaigns also made the event a real experience. Dr. Thanit emphasized: “It is crucial to strike a balance between the use of natural resources and their conservation.” There will also be an emphasis on sustainable tourism models to ensure a long-term source of income for local communities. Daily News continues reporting.
The biodiversity in Thailand is impressive, with over 15,000 plant species representing around 8% of the world's species. However, this variety is threatened by illegal hunting, habitat loss and environmental pollution. Nature conservation measures therefore play a central role in protecting the diverse ecosystem. The BioMart project also wants to make a contribution here and show how nature conservation and economic power can work together. Constructive Voices highlights.
A model for the future
The belief that sustainable practices are both economical and environmental runs throughout the initiative. “We believe that with projects like BioMart we can bring about positive change that not only benefits nature, but also people,” says Nif Collier-Smith. By managing tourism responsibly, not only visitors benefit, but also locals, who can live from stable sources of income in harmony with their surroundings.
Organizers hope BioMart Hua Hin 2025 will serve as an exemplary model for other provinces and tourism regions to ease pressure on natural resources while promoting community prosperity. A forward-looking approach that shows that you don't have to choose between the economy and the environment - both can go hand in hand.
