New electric ferries are revolutionizing transport to Koh Kood!

The Thai island of Koh Kood, known for its unspoiled nature and idyllic beaches, will soon receive an exciting eco-friendly transport alternative. Candela, a Swedish electric boat manufacturer, has partnered with Thai company Seudamgo by Leopard Transportation Co. Ltd. partnered to introduce ten state-of-the-art P-12 electric hydrofoil ferries. These modes of transport will provide an important link between the mainland and the enchanting island, standing out from overcrowded tourist destinations such as Phuket and Koh Samui.

The new ferries are intended not only to improve accessibility to the island, but also to reduce the environmental damage caused by conventional, gasoline-powered speedboats. Loud Travel and Tour World The introduction of the emission-free P-12 ferries is a significant step towards sustainable mobility in Thailand. These ferries offer a quiet and comfortable ride, reducing noise and pollution and preserving the island's characteristic peace.

Innovative technology for eco-friendly travel

The Candela P-12 ferries use innovative hydrofoil technology that allows the boats to glide over the surface of the water while using up to 80% less energy than traditional fast ferries. Each of these electric marvels can reach speeds of up to 25 knots (approx. 46 km/h) and takes just 40 minutes to travel the 20 nautical miles to the island. Powered by dual Candela C-Pod engines with an impressive output of 110 kW, they offer space for 20 passengers and ample luggage space in air-conditioned cabins. Passengers benefit from the digital flight control, which adjusts the hydrofoils in real time, with a smooth and noiseless driving experience.

The commitment to environmental protection was noticeable at the contract signing during the SX Sustainability Expo in Bangkok. This initiative promises to increase Koh Kood's tourist appeal without endangering the region's fragile ecology. The Governor of Trat and representatives from the Ministry of Transport were among those present and confirmed the importance of this project for sustainable tourism in Thailand - it was reported Candela herself.

Koh Kood on the way to a green future

Koh Kood is considered one of Thailand's most untouched island paradises. Concerns about the impact of old, noisy speedboats on marine life and the environment have only reinforced the need for a sustainable solution. Candela's P-12 ferries, which produce no exhaust gases and cause almost no waves or noise, offer exactly this solution. This will make access to the island safer and more environmentally friendly, preserving the beauty of this special region.

The new ferry service will operate all year round, with further plans to expand the fleet to other nearby islands. This could not only significantly improve the passenger experience, but also take the entire region to the next level in ecological tourism, he said Electrek.

This ecological initiative could offer a promising future for Koh Kood and is a step in the right direction for sustainable tourism in Thailand. With the continued growth of ferry services, Koh Kood is poised to retain its enchanting appeal as a dreamy oasis while becoming a model for sustainable tourism.
