Thailand's air mobility: SkyDrive plans eVTOL operations in Bangkok!

In Bangkok, September 10, 2025, a significant step towards future air mobility was taken. SkyDrive, a pioneer in the production of eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft), took part in a 24-hour discussion focused on establishing eVTOL operations in Thailand. This event was held at the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) headquarters and attracted representatives from notable organizations including Bangkok Airways, Saha Pathana Inter-Holding and Saha Tokyu Corporation. Airports International reports that the participants exchanged views on the future development of the air mobility industry and discussed the necessary framework conditions for a successful introduction of the new technology.

A central topic of the discussions was a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that SkyDrive developed together with its partners, which was signed in June 2024. The aim of this MoU is to explore the feasibility and best practices for the deployment of eVTOLs in Thailand. To drive adoption, both public-private partnerships and thoughtful infrastructure development are essential. The need for close cooperation is reflected in last week's discussions, in which detailed plans for future mobility were discussed.

Growth of air mobility

SkyDrive has initially selected the regions of Si Racha, Koh Samui and Bangkok as its focus, where future eVTOL use is planned. The exchange with Bangkok Airways is particularly promising, as both companies have a common interest in developing this innovative aviation technology. According to LinkedIn, a major goal of this initiative is to initiate a so-called mobility revolution that revolutionizes everyday transport through airspace applications.

Another item on the agenda was the possibility of CAAT representatives traveling to Japan to watch SkyDrive conduct flight demonstrations of the latest developments in eVTOL technology. This would not only promote knowledge sharing, but also help Thailand build an effective air mobility sector that can compete internationally.

The look into the future

The developments surrounding eVTOL technology are being followed with excitement in the aviation industry. It promises to provide solutions to some of the most pressing transport problems and usher in a new era of mobility. According to CAPA reports, this initiative is considered a significant step forward and signal for the emerging air mobility sector in Thailand.

In summary, discussions about eVTOL operations in Thailand provide an exciting glimpse into the future of aviation. The combined forces of SkyDrive and its partners are paving the way for a new chapter in mobility that could soon take flight in the skies of Thailand.
