Creative economy in focus: seminar on the future of Thailand starts!

The creative economy is at a premium in Thailand, and this is particularly evident at the upcoming “Creating Tomorrow, Creative Economy” event organized by the CEA, the Creative Economy Promotion Office, and the Faculty of Commerce and Accounting at Chulalongkorn University. On October 6, 2025, managers from different sectors will have the opportunity to get involved in CBS Cinema and discuss new developments. This event is part of the CreativEX 2025 training program and aims to educate entrepreneurs and decision-makers and raise awareness of the challenges of the creative economy.

What's particularly exciting is that the current topics span a wide range - from the business opportunities created by Thailand's cultural capital to government support mechanisms. Speakers such as คุณกอบกาญจน์ วัฒนวรางกูร, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Thailand, and ดร. ชาคริต พิชญางกูร, Director of the CEA, will share their insights and perspectives. Particularly noteworthy is the case study of the film “หลานม่า” (Laan Ma), which shows how cultural value can be linked to creative communication.

Soft power as a strategy for sustainable growth

In the context of the creative economy, soft power plays an important role. The Thai government, under Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, has adopted a holistic policy aimed at promoting creativity and knowledge among the population and creating jobs. Soft power is developed in eleven different areas such as food, sports and art. This strategy is intended not only to preserve local culture, but also to invite and connect internationally.

The Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI) recently published excellent forecasts: If companies fully exploit the potential of the creative economy, economic growth could more than double by 2030. The Creative Economy Agency (CEA) offers a valuable platform for connecting small businesses with large companies and promoting a fruitful exchange of ideas and innovations.

Practical steps and future developments

As part of the initiative, the CEA is planning two exciting projects for fiscal year 2026: The **Content Lab**, which aims to address the shortage of Thai producers and screenwriters. In addition, the **Metaverse Ecosystem Lab** will be launched to strengthen the connection between academic knowledge and industries. This lab aims to develop a native Metaverse ecosystem and train talent for the digital future.

CEA's Chakrit has emphasized that promoting Thai identity on a global level plays a central role. The connection between culture and business is becoming increasingly visible. This also includes supporting the gaming, animation and e-sports industries, which offer particular potential for innovation and market opportunities.

The upcoming events and strategies demonstrate a committed effort to shape a prosperous future for Thailand through creative approaches. Clear cooperation between sectors, be it economic or cultural, will be essential to achieve the ambitious goals. In this dynamic landscape of the creative economy, which is of great importance, it is clear: there is something to be achieved for everyone involved!

Interested managers and decision-makers have the opportunity to register for CreativEX 2025 - a step into the future that will be worthwhile.
