Safety first: Pattaya prepares for Loy Krathong!
In Pattaya, where spectacle and tradition meet, the tourist police have activated extensive security measures on the occasion of the Loy Krathong Festival on November 5, 2025. Under the motto “The River of Eternal Loyalty”, visitor safety is at the top of the agenda. Patrols now operate on land, sea and even air; Drones monitor the situation in key areas such as Walking Street and Bali Hai Pier. Security measures have been stepped up to protect both tourists and citizens, which is particularly important as the city sees a slight increase in tourists traveling to Koh Larn, Topnews reports.
A ceremony to mobilize police forces was held on November 4, 2025 at Wat Phra Ram in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Led by National Police Chief Major General Kittirat Phanphet and Tourist Police Deputy Police Chief Pol. Maj. Gen. Pongsayam Meekhanthong, emphasized the aim of ensuring the comfort and safety of visitors during the celebrations. A thoughtful approach will be taken that combines the continuation of Thai traditions and tourism safety, while police work with relevant authorities to ensure a peaceful festival, as Thansettakij highlights.
Precautions and Notes
The police have developed special measures to be able to respond quickly to incidents. These include mobile tourist vehicles and a 24-hour hotline available in eight languages. The public is urged to be careful when handling fireworks and not to take valuable items with them. Parents are also warned to keep an eye on their children to avoid possible dangers.
The Loy Krathong Festival will be celebrated in a more reserved manner this year due to the national mourning period. Entertainment activities must be suspended to pay respect to the late Queen Mother Sirikit. However, a rush is expected at key venues such as Sukhothai and Ayutthaya, where major events such as “Maha Loy Krathong” take place. The Tourism Authority of Thailand forecasts that 1.9 million tourists are expected during the festival, which is expected to generate 6.5 billion baht in tourism revenue, Thailandtip reports.
In the days leading up to the main festival, many people flocked to Pak Khlong Talat in Bangkok to purchase krathongs and other goods. The vendors offer a colorful selection of krathongs made from natural materials, which are very important to the festival. The government's Khon La Khrueng Plus co-payment program further encourages a positive response to the festival, even if the cost of living is high.
Despite the challenges, Pattaya and the entire region has made preparations for a safe and peaceful Loy Krathong Festival. May the celebration be a peaceful and enjoyable experience for all participants!
