New flight connections to Thailand: winter magic for travelers!

Thailand is experiencing a remarkable upswing in international air traffic for the 2025/2026 winter season. TAT News reports on the introduction of five new direct connections by Norse Atlantic Airways, which will significantly expand air access from Great Britain, Sweden and Norway to Bangkok and Phuket. These new flights will launch in a few days and are intended not only to increase travel but also to support the government's Big Impact, Act Fast policy, which aims to increase international arrivals.

The new route from London Gatwick to Bangkok will be inaugurated on October 26, 2025 and will operate with 3 to 5 flights per week. From April 2026, this connection will be available all year round. Equally exciting is the Manchester to Bangkok connection, which begins operations on November 26, 2025 and is the only direct connection from the UK airport outside of London. Stockholm will be served in two ways: Flights to Bangkok will begin on October 22, 2025 and will be increased from the initial 2 to 4 flights per week. The new routes to Phuket from Stockholm and Oslo also start on December 4th and 8th, 2025.

A rise in tourism

An exciting development that should boost tourism in Thailand. The Thaiger highlights that Bangkok is increasingly serving as an important hub for international airlines. Monthly visitor flows are already showing positive trends: in 2025 alone, Thai authorities counted up to 757,960 visitors from the UK, an increase of 13.66%. There is also a pleasing increase of 8.56% from Sweden with 145,188 visitors by mid-October.

The flight connections are not only important for holidaymakers. Airlines like United Airlines are also returning to the game - the first direct connection from the USA to Bangkok in over a decade will start on October 26, 2025.

A popular travel destination

But what makes Thailand so special? How Laenderdaten.info reports, cities such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Samui are among the most popular travel destinations worldwide. In 2024, Bangkok ranked as the 17th most famous place. With wonderful attractions such as the Royal Palace, temple complexes and bustling markets, Thailand attracts millions of tourists every year. The excellent infrastructure and diverse offerings contribute to Thailand being considered one of the preferred travel destinations in Southeast Asia.

The declining numbers during the pandemic have not only shaken the industry, but also given nature a breather. Mass tourism, which has caused serious environmental problems in recent decades, could be overcome in the new normal with increased interest in responsible travel.

All in all, the coming winter season promises to be an exciting chapter for Thai tourism, and thanks in no small part to the new flight connections from Norse Atlantic Airways and other international airlines, getting to Thailand has now become much easier and more attractive.
