Norse Atlantic Airlines launches five new routes to Thailand!
Tourism in Thailand is booming! The introduction of five new direct flights by Norse Atlantic Airways will not only boost arrivals from the UK and Scandinavia to Bangkok and Phuket, but also enrich the overall travel experience in this tropical paradise. The first route from London Gatwick to Bangkok will start on October 26, 2025, where the airline will offer between three and five flights per week. The connection from Manchester to Bangkok follows on November 26th - and that's not all!
With over 100,000 passengers indirectly using this route every year, there is clearly a strong need for direct flights. Norse Atlantic Airways, which was founded in 2021, will operate the new routes with its modern Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. These aircraft can accommodate 338 passengers and will undoubtedly guarantee a comfortable flight.
A look at the new routes
Did you know that Manchester is the only UK airport outside of London to offer direct flights to Thailand? This is great news for travelers from this region! But Stockholm isn't forgotten either, as weekly flights to Bangkok have been available there since October 22nd, with a further increase to four flights per week from December. Additionally, a new service from Stockholm to Phuket will launch on December 4th and an Oslo-Phuket connection on December 8th, 2025, both of which will operate weekly.
These new connections support the government’s “Big Impact, Act Fast” policy, which aims to boost international tourism. According to the latest statistics, 757,960 British tourists have already visited Thailand from January to September 2025, an increase of 13.66% compared to the previous year. Swedish tourists were also keen to travel - 145,188 of them traveled to Thailand, which corresponds to an increase of 8.56%.
Economic assessment
Why is tourism so important? Thailand is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world, known for its cultural diversity, delicious food and beautiful landscapes. Over 172 billion baht in revenue was generated from the tourism sector last year and the forecast for the coming months is positive. It is estimated that the new routes will not only increase the number of international arrivals, but also create valuable jobs and business opportunities.
The fashion in which travelers spend money is also particularly interesting. Swedish tourists spend an average of around 65,000 baht per trip and stay just under 20 days - bringing in over 14 billion baht in revenue! Such numbers show that Thailand is a very hot tip for winter vacation trips.
Apart from Norse Atlantic Airways, other airlines are also showing interest in Thailand. Arkia Israeli Airlines will begin its flights from Tel Aviv to Bangkok on November 26th, while Air France will begin its flights from Paris to Phuket on November 28th. In addition, Etihad Airways has already set up connections from Abu Dhabi to Krabi. 2025 will be a crucial year in Thailand's international air connectivity!
Overall, the new developments paint a rosy picture for the coming winter and will make every traveler's heart beat faster. So you could say: When the travel planes take off, so do the possibilities and dreams of an unforgettable time in Thailand!
