The first flight from Los Angeles to Bangkok will take off again on October 26, 2025. The route takes place via Hong Kong and is operated daily by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which can accommodate 257 passengers. The plane will land at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok at 11:25 a.m. – exciting news for all travel enthusiasts! The details of the flight plan are clear: The UA820 takes off from Los Angeles at 11:15 a.m., reaches Hong Kong at 07:00 a.m. (+2 days) and flies on to Bangkok.
The return of United Airlines and its plans
With United Airlines' return to Bangkok, the airline will introduce five new international routes in Asia Pacific, including services to Ho Chi Minh City and Adelaide. United Airlines benefits from increased efficiency by offering its flights from Hong Kong. Flights to Bangkok are designed to attract the traveling public that appreciates the vibrant life and cultural diversity of Thailand.
Tourism in Thailand is booming. In 2024, Bangkok generated over 940 billion Thai Baht in tourism revenue. An attractive nightlife, world-class shopping areas and cultural attractions attract millions of international guests. The TAT sees the return of United Airlines as a golden opportunity to draw even more travelers' attention to the paradisiacal beaches and exciting cities of Thailand.
A look at the tourism landscape in Thailand
Thailand is one of the most sought-after travel destinations in the world and can look back on a long tradition in tourism. Since the 1950s, when around 40,000 international guests came to the country every year, the number has increased continuously. There are now millions of arrivals, mostly flowing into the central region. In recent years, Thailand has witnessed huge revenues from the tourism sector, rising to nearly 1.7 trillion Thai baht in 2024, underscoring the importance of the sector to the local economy.
Bangkok remains the main destination for travelers, but provinces such as Chiang Mai, Phuket and Pattaya are also popular. This diversity makes Thailand a unique travel destination that harmoniously combines culture, entertainment and nature. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, surveys showed travelers remain interested in the beauty of Thailand, with health and safety concerns the top concern.
With the new flight connections and the effort to further promote tourism, Thailand will certainly be in the headlines again soon. The return of United Airlines could be the decisive boost the sector needs to consolidate its position as a leading destination. So, pack your bags!
