A new wind is blowing on Bangkok's transport market! United Airlines recently launched its nonstop service between the Thai capital and the United States, and it's causing quite a stir. Travelers now have the option to effortlessly fly from Bangkok to Los Angeles or San Francisco via Hong Kong. Flights are available all year round, with departures from Bangkok before dinner to make travel easier for not only business travelers but also leisure travelers. Marcel Fuchs, Managing Director International Sales at United Airlines, emphasizes that this expansion of the offering is an important development for all travelers from the region. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, also sees this new air connection as a significant step towards strengthening international travel. But that's not all! The new route is part of an approved U.S. Department of Transportation initiative that went into effect on October 26, 2025. United Airlines is now permitted to offer daily flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City, making it the first and only U.S. airline to offer these daily routes on this date. The flights use so-called “fifth freedom rights”, which means that passengers can be picked up in Hong Kong on the way to Southeast Asia. This was stated in a report by VisaVerge explained.
