The series combines fine rums from different countries of origin with a unique maturation in ex-sherry casks. The first representative of this series, the Dos Maderas Origen Thailand 12 years, is the focus and promises a very special taste experience.
Produced at the SangSom Distillery in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand, this rum has a remarkable history. The distillery is already known for its Phraya Rum, and the Dos Maderas Origen Thailand highlights its expertise in the art of rum production. Distillation takes place on a column still made from sugar cane molasses harvested in Thailand, where the country is a major sugar producer in Southeast Asia. Rumgeography describes Thailand as a tropical paradise with ideal conditions for sugar cane harvesting.
Unique maturation techniques
The Dos Maderas Origen Thailand initially matures for 12 years in ex-bourbon casks before receiving a special maturation in 80-year-old ex-Oloroso sherry casks in Jerez. This brings an extra aroma and depth to the taste Spirits Journal emphasized. The aging process gives the rum an unparalleled intensity and combines Asian distillation traditions with Andalusian heritage.
The tasting notes of this rum are impressive: a mahogany color accompanied by complex aromas of caramel, toffee, coffee, roasted almonds, wood, vanilla, dark chocolate, coconut and a hint of citrus. On the palate, the rum is soft, full-bodied and warm, with a long aftertaste of roasted wood, coffee and coconut. A total of 4,000 bottles of Dos Maderas Origen Thailand were produced over 12 years, with 750 bottles available to German retailers. The recommended retail price is 59.99 euros for the 0.7 l bottle, including stylish gift packaging.
