Sakhaluang Festival in Phrae: A celebration of tradition and remembrance!

On October 15, 2025, the spectacular “Sakhaluang” festival was celebrated in Phrae Province at Wat Phra Bat Ming Muang Worawihan. This colorful event attracted numerous Buddhists and government officials to celebrate the tradition of the Sakhaluang tree. The temple's abbot, Phra Rajakhemakorn, and Phrae deputy governor, Khunakan Kachahirun, served as keynote speakers and underscored the importance of the ceremony.

The highlight of the festival was undoubtedly an impressive 12-meter-tall Sakhaluang tree proudly displayed at Fountain Square. Visitors flocked to have their photos taken and capture this special moment. Dr. Watthanasiliratch Kanthayanamuni, Chairman of the Ganesh Temple Board of Directors, explained to those present the origin of the Sakhaluang tree and emphasized that this tree is a tribute to deceased relatives and guardian spirits. The impressive installation was sponsored by V.K.G. Group and its partner companies under the leadership of Vorawimol Katti Patthanapong.

In addition to the spiritual component, participants also had a culinary treat. The large food tent served a wide variety of food including pizza, larb, green curry and traditional rice dishes. Swensen's popular ice cream was also on the menu. The visitors clearly had fun feasting and celebrating, which made the festival an unforgettable experience.
