Sorry for flag errors: Thai Football Association responds!
The latest developments in futsal are a topic of conversation not only in Thailand but also internationally. Thus, on October 30, 2025, Ms. Nualphan Lamsam, better known as Madam Pang, took the opportunity to apologize for a faux pas during the draw ceremony of the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 and U19 Futsal Championship. The Vietnamese national flag was misrepresented, which was described as unintentional. Vietnam.vn reports that the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) has immediately launched an investigation to avoid such mistakes in the future.
As part of these efforts, a FAT delegation led by Vice President Adisak Benjasiriwan was sent to Vietnam to discuss cooperation with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). These dialogues are under the supervision of Winston Lee, Secretary General of the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF). In a friendly reception, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung expressed his hope for the continuation of the good relations between Thailand and Vietnam in football, which was reinforced by Nualphan Lamsam with the desire to promote football as a bridge of friendship.
Futsal as a bridge of friendship
Nualphan Lamsam, who has had an 18-year career in football, was moved by the affection she has for Vietnam. Their commitment across borders is recognized by Ambassador Pham Viet Hung, who sees the incident as regrettable, but also as an opportunity for greater cooperation. The hope is that such incidents will not happen again and future cooperation can strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the futsal scene in Thailand continues its busy path. The MEA Futsal Thai League, the top league for futsal clubs in Thailand, remains an important part of the sports offering in the country. The role the league plays in the football community can hardly be overestimated. This season, 14 clubs are fighting for the top spots, with one promoted team always coming from Division 1. The league has developed over the years under various sponsors, most recently supported by MEA, which sets the framework for a professional level. Wikipedia provides an interesting overview of the history of the league.
Futsal championships and international qualifications
Another highlight is the upcoming South German Junior Futsal Championships, which will take place in Weißenburg on March 2nd and 3rd, 2024. The C, A and B juniors provide excitement here, with a total of six teams per category vying for the title. WürttFV emphasizes that the tournament winners can qualify for the German Indoor Championships 2024 in Duisburg, which gives the competition additional importance.
Particularly noteworthy is SV Böblingen, which is entering the race as Württemberg futsal champions and has already had its first successes. The anticipation is high for the championships and the opportunity to see talented players on a bigger stage. With this in mind, it remains to be seen how the futsal world will develop in the coming months, both in Thailand and in Germany.
