ONYX Hospitality presents grandiose expansion at WTM London!
ONYX Hospitality Group is ready to make a big splash at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2025 in London. How TravelMole reports, the company will unveil a series of new openings in Thailand, Sri Lanka and Laos as it pursues ambitious plans to expand and manage over 50 hotels and residences by the end of 2025. The aim is to increase the number to over 75 properties by 2030. There are currently 49 properties in the portfolio under the Amari, OZO, Shama and Oriental Residence brands.
The recently opened hotels in particular stand out: The Amari Bangsaen is located directly on the beach near Pattaya and combines relaxation with comfort. In Colombo, Sri Lanka, Amari Colombo offers modern rooms in a central location that fuse traditional charm with contemporary style. The Amari Vientiane in Laos, which is located on the Mekong, is also ideally positioned for business and leisure travelers with comprehensive facilities.
New travel connections for the British market
The UK market remains a key focus for ONYX. Current developments such as the direct flights from Norse Atlantic Airways, which started from London Gatwick to Bangkok on October 26, 2025, will make traveling to the ONYX destinations in Thailand significantly easier. In addition, a new route from Manchester to Bangkok will open on November 26, 2025, further improving connectivity.
The expansion of the ONYX brands also extends to future properties in popular holiday destinations such as Phuket, Krabi, Koh Samui and Bangkok. OZO properties, such as OZO Phuket and OZO Chaweng Samui, are specifically aimed at modern, experience-oriented travelers. Particularly noteworthy are the Shama brands, including the Shama Lakeview Asoke in Bangkok, which is characterized by modern serviced apartments for long-term guests.
Strategies for sustainable growth
ONYX Hospitality's expansion is not only focused on quantity, but also on quality and sustainability. Travel and Tour World highlights that a new Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) is being planned to promote sustainable growth and long-term investor confidence. The brand aims to have 50 operational properties by the end of 2025 and expand to 70 by 2028, while implementing renovation programs to bring existing properties up to international standards.
The tourism sector in Thailand plays a central role in the country's economic stability. How Market Research Thailand shows, tourism revenue contributed 18.29% to GDP in 2019, while this figure fell to 2.2% during the pandemic. However, with the full reopening, the sector is well on its way and already generated 7.24% of GDP again in 2022. A sustainable tourism strategy will be essential in the future to address challenges such as environmental impacts and seasonal fluctuations.
Overall, the focus is on sustainable practices, as the successful expansion of companies such as ONYX Hospitality Group reflects the growth and resilience of the Thai tourism scene. Whether with modern hotels or new flight connections, one thing is certain: travelers are welcome, and ONYX will show the best of Southeast Asia at WTM!
