Thailand's Gaming Revolution: Over 200,000 Visitors to Gamescom Asia 2023!

The first steps into Thailand's gaming future are promising. The first took place from October 16th to 19th, 2025 Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. Over 206,000 visitors from 95 countries made the event a spectacular success and a lasting highlight for the region.

With this fusion event, which emerged from the already established Gamescom Asia in Singapore and the Thailand Game Show, Thailand made a clear statement in the Asian gaming world. The aim was to expand Thailand's position as a leading gaming hub and celebrate creativity and innovation in the gaming industry. Trade Minister Suphajee Suthumpun emphasized that the games should incorporate the beauty of Thailand as a backdrop and characters.

Record numbers and top positions

In the business sector, an impressive 5,590 professionals from 81 countries were there to make new contacts and close deals. More than 71 speakers on four stages provided exciting insights and discussions. The participants included 294 exhibitors and country pavilions, including industry giants such as Bandai Namco, Capcom, HoYoverse and Ubisoft.

A real treat for fans was the indie section, which presented 62 titles. Over 200 games could be tried out, which further fueled the enthusiasm of the visitors. The Thailand Game Awards gave Sandfall Interactive’s “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” four awards. Also honored was Bit Egg Inc.’s “Lost and Found Co.” with the Thai Game Award. Glen Schofield, the designer behind hit series like “Dead Space,” was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

A look at the future

The next edition of the Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show is already planned for the period from October 29th to November 1st, 2024. The event area is expected to cover more than 30,000 square meters and attract over 200,000 visitors. The event will not only be a B2C event for the fans, but also an important B2B event for the industry.

In the entertainment sector, new game demos and presentations from well-known brands such as Nintendo and PlayStation can be expected. High-tech hardware from companies such as AMD and Intel will also be showcased. The Thailand Game Awards with performances by well-known artists such as Jannine “Ploychompoo” Weigel are also on the agenda.

The global trends in gaming are obvious: the market is estimated to be worth around 272.86 billion US dollars in 2024 and could grow to 426 billion by 2029. E-sports and mobile gaming are driving this growth. Thailand's gaming industry is estimated to be worth 34.28 billion baht (approximately $979.66 million) in 2025, accounting for a hefty 77.5% of the country's total digital content industry, according to Nation of Thailand.

With the above development, Thailand is poised to establish itself as the leading gaming destination in the Asian region and become a real hotspot for gamers and industry experts for the coming years.
