Celebrate 50 Years of Friendship: Amazing Thailand Mid-Autumn Night!

Today, October 7, 2025, a very special event will be celebrated in Bangkok: the “Amazing Thailand Mid-Autumn Night 2025”. This event, organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will mark the 50th anniversary of the friendship between Thailand and China as part of the “Nihao Month” campaign. Appropriately, the celebration falls during Golden Week and the Moon Festival, which gives it a very special cultural touch.

Around 100 Chinese Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), content creators and media representatives are expected to celebrate the values of culture and tourism together. Among the guests of honor are prominent personalities such as Mr. Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports, and Mr. Yang Xiao Long, Counselor of the Cultural Department of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand. TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool highlights that the focus of this event is on strengthening Thailand as a destination of choice and promoting cultural ties between these two countries.

Cultural highlights of the event

The theme of the event, “Mid-Autumn Festival combines Thai and Chinese culture and tourism,” will be brought to life through various cultural performances and symbolic activities. Among other things, the traditional mooncake production is planned, led by Minister Atthakorn and other guests of honor. Well-known actor Pong Nawat Kulrattanarak will also appear during a dialogue on Thailand-China relations and the tourism sector.

The festive music will feature performances by famous artists such as Billkin Putthipong Assaratanakul, who will perform both Thai and Chinese songs. These performances will be part of a broader initiative to promote cultural exchange, consisting of the “Thailand, Told by You” UGC Challenge and a so-called FAM Trip.

Economic stimulus through new initiatives

In this context, the TAT has also launched several initiatives to stimulate the Chinese travel market. The number of visitors is already impressive: from January to September 2025, over 3.4 million tourists from China came to Thailand. These numbers are expected to increase over the coming months, particularly in the fourth quarter.

A highlight of this programming is the Chinese Passport Privilege Program, which offers Chinese tourists various discounts and benefits at participating retailers, shopping malls and tourism services in Thailand from September 20 to December 31, 2025. Numerous retail chains, including Siam Center and ICONSIAM, are taking part and offering exciting offers.

These measures are underpinned by joint promotions and marketing campaigns with platforms such as Meituan, Ctrip and Alipay. These collaborations ensure that a broad audience in China is excited about the beauties of Thailand. And don't forget: Live streaming activities with influential Chinese digital personalities target young travelers and families.

Festive atmosphere and cultural bridges

In addition to Mid-Autumn Night, numerous other activities are also offered as part of the “Nihao Month” campaign. These include cultural exchange programs such as Chinese calligraphy and contemporary art workshops, allowing participants to develop a deeper connection to Thai and Chinese cultures.

With such a diverse program and numerous promotions, Thailand is well positioned to both attract Chinese tourists and strengthen cultural ties. Mrs. Thapanee Kiatphaibool emphasizes the importance of these relationships: “China is an essential market for us and we have a good knack for taking the right initiatives to ensure our guests have an unforgettable stay.” It remains to be seen how the exchange between Thailand and China will develop in the coming months.
